Join the Lower Falls Foundation, the City of Rochester, and area volunteers in beautifying the Lower Falls area!

Mission and how organization impacts the community:
The Lower Falls Foundation, Inc., is a social impact enterprise and a neighborhood catalyst committed to developing relationships and opportunities to benefit the historic Lower Falls neighborhoods in Rochester, NY. Its mission is to be the most flexible and autonomous vehicle for channeling investment, business opportunities, beautification projects, heritage tourism, advocacy and civic engagement opportunities into the historic Lower Falls neighborhoods.

Project Description:
With the National Park Service’s designation of Kelsey’s Landing in the Lower Falls Gorge area as a National Trail to Freedom Site because of its significance to the Underground Railroad System during the 1800s, the number of visitors will increase in the future. Beautifying the surrounding park areas will help to showcase the importance of this historic site. A large project is being planned, in conjunction with the City of Rochester, to clean up the appearance of the Lower Falls Park and the adjacent Maplewood Park.

Volunteers will be needed on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, to pull weeds in these parks. Volunteers will be supplied with gloves and tools for pulling weeds and trimming plants. Supervision will be in place to identify what weeds are to be pulled and the techniques for trimming the plants and shrubs that will remain.
